WHY WE PARTY
WHAT'S JOSE'S HANDS ANYWAY?

Meet the Founder

Alex Miranda

For the last 6 years, friends and family of Jose’s Hands have come together to PARTY FOR A CAUSE!

In 2008, I lost my brother Jose.  Right before his passing, he shared with me that he wanted to use his career as a doctor to serve on medical missions.

He didn't live to see that vision come to life, but I am.

On October 24th, 2009, I threw a big party to celebrate my 29th birthday and the launch of my 501(c)(3) non-profit, Jose’s Hands. I invited all of his friends and charged $20 at the door. That night, I raised $5,000 for medical mission trips. That’s where it all began.

That year we sent the money with medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic where medical attention was brought to over 500 Dominican and Haitian children, adolescents, women and men of under-served areas.

All of the sudden, the lives of people halfway around the world got a little bit better. They didn’t have to walk hours to see a doctor or pay money for expensive medicines. They just had to show up to a make-shift medical clinic.

7 years later, Jose’s Hands has attended 14 medical mission trips and served thousands of people with free medical attention and medicine.

I look forward to hosting you at our annual gala as we “Celebrate and Unite for Medical Missions”

"In 2008, I lost my brother, Major Jose Jamil Miranda, MD, MPH. Ever since then, we've kept his purpose alive."

"My second mission trip in 2011 to the Dominican Republic. I'm not a doctor, but I love serving, praying, and seeing healing happen."

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the event free?

We make a percentage off of food and beverage sales.  We also fundraise through the casino games.  The more people that come, the more we potentially make!  That's why we make the gala free.

Dresscode for the Gala?

Normally "Gala" means tuxedo, but NOT THIS ONE.  We recommend ladies where a pretty black dress and men wear a black shirt and slacks.  Dress like you're going out on a date to a nice restaurant in Miami.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

18+ to attend, 21+ to drink

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

$10 Hotel Parking with Validation (must get validation when you enter event)

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Bring lots of money, it's casino night!

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email Ailen Gutierrez at ailen@joseshands.org

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes!  In fact, you can invite as many people as you want.  The more the merrier!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

That's cool.
